"It inspires me to carry out ideas“
Tom O’Failey, 36
My best ideas often hit me right out of the blue. When I hear the sound of an engine, when I catch a glimpse of a sports car, perhaps while I'm having lunch with a friend. But the idea is just the spark that gets me thinking.
As we discuss it, we make connections, discard what won’t work, pursue what’s interesting. Naturally, we go through highs and lows. The trick is to get the team excited about what you believe in, even if it seems absurd at first. Because you won’t get far by yourself.
And in the end, when it’s your idea that has enabled the team to make engines more powerful, environmentally compatible or fuel-efficient, your motivation gets an enormous boost. And you’re already looking for the next thing to spark an idea.
